Last but not least, Wilma gave us a beautiful little doeling – Magnolia! Wilma didn’t settle the first time around, so we waited it out. At the end of January it became very apparent that she was back in heat. We thought it over, knowing the timing wasn’t as we planned and decided to give it a go. Fortunately, she settled the second time and the waiting game began. Our five day window was from June 22nd – June 26th based on her breeding date. On Thursday (6/28) morning, I noted that Wilma’s ligaments were nearly gone. At the time, she didn’t have any other signs in terms of utter or discharge. We thought she might make it to the evening and weren’t really sure what timing looked like.
My husband was able to arrive home early to find little Magnolia only minutes after being born. Wilma did a wonderful job and got her all cleaned up. We have decided to retain Maggie and add her to our growing herd. We are in love with her simplicity in color and great conformation. We look forward to seeing what she produces in the future!
